What We Believe

We believe the Holy Scripture, consisting on sixty-six books, is the inspired Word of God and is without error in the original writings.  Therefore, being the complete and only infallible rule of faith and life for every believer.

We believe that under the filling and enlightenment of God the Holy Spirit, Scripture is to be understood within its literal-grammatical-historical context, in its natural sense, and compared with other particular passages found in the whole testimony of Scripture.

We believe the Godhead exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  These three are one God, and only one, who is self-existent, eternal and infinite in every excellence.

We believe the Eternal Son of God, having been born of the Virgin Mary, became the incarnate Lord Jesus Christ the God-Man (fully God and fully man).  Jesus Christ is the eternal possessor of all the attributes of God and surrendered nothing of His divine nature in His incarnation.

We believe, as written in Scripture, that the Lord Jesus Christ voluntarily died for our sins in accordance to His obedience to the Father’s will providing a complete atonement (a covering) for our sins.  All who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood.  On the third day after His death and burial, the Lord Jesus Christ was literally and physically raised from the dead to now sit at the right hand of the Father.  This is the final assurance to believers of the complete work of salvation.  The Lord Jesus Christ continues to intercede as the believer’s Advocate.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Godhead (same in essence and co-equal with the Father and the Son) who possesses all of the attributes of God, who regenerates, indwells, baptizes, imparting spiritual gifts and seals all true believers in Jesus Christ and fills those who yielded to God; furthermore, being active in creation, the divine revelation and inspiration of the Scripture.

We believe that man was created in God’s image for His glory, but in Adam mankind has incurred the penalty of physical and spiritual death being separated from God; furthermore, being sinners by nature and by choice.  Mankind is hopeless and helpless in sin being incapable of pleasing God or attaining salvation apart from the grace of God.  Mankind is therefore considered totally depraved in sin.

We believe that eternal salvation is appropriated by faith alone in Christ alone, who died as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins and rose again to now sit at the right hand of the Father.  Eternal salvation is the work of all members of the Eternal Godhead on behalf of totally depraved mankind apart from any human merit or effort bringing the believing sinner into fellowship with God through a spiritual birth into God’s family.  Eternal salvation not only results in one’s justification before God, but also one’s sanctification and glorification.  Sinful mankind is freed from the guilt, power and presence of sin.

We believe that because of the eternal purpose of God toward objects of His love, the freedom to exercise grace toward the meritless on the ground of the propitiary blood of Christ, the very nature of the divine gift of eternal life, the present and undending intercession and advocacy of Christ in Heaven, the immutability of the unchanging covenants of God, the regenerating and abiding presence of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of all who are saved, we and all true believers everywhere, once saved shall be kept saved forever.  God is a holy and righteous Father and cannot overlook the sin of His children, but will chasten and bring correction with infinite love.  He who cannot fail will present all believers faultless in the end before the presence of His glory and all believers will be conformed to the image of His Son.

We believe that every true believer is promised ultimate sanctification (positional sanctification) as well as the power enabling them for progressive development in one’s spiritual life (progressive sanctification).

We believe the church comprises all true believers of this age and is the body and bride of Jesus Christ formed by the baptism of the Holy Spirit where believers are identified with Jesus Christ.  The local assembly, a subset of the universal church, is comprised of a group of localized believers who meet regularly for worship, teaching and studying Scripture, prayer, exercising one’s spiritual gifts, and the fellowship of the Gospel for the mutual edification of its members.  The universal church is the spiritual organism headed by Jesus Christ and is universally composed of all who are born again by faith alone in Christ alone.  The universal church is distinct from national Israel and will continue until Jesus Christ returns for the church at the Rapture.

We believe the Scriptural ordinances of the local church practiced by all true believers in Jesus Christ are baptism and the Lord’s supper.

We believe that God is sovereign in the bestowment of all his gifts (manifestations of the Holy Spirit) and that certain apostolic sign gifts, such as speaking in tongues and the working of sign miracles, gradually ceased in the completion and establishment of authority of the New Testament Scriptures.

We believe that it is in obedience to the Lord’s command to witness, by life and by word, the truths of Holy Scripture seeking to proclaim the gospel to all mankind.

We believe Christians are called to a life of faithful and obedient service to our Lord and to a testimony of holiness in the power of the Holy Spirit.  There is promised reward in Heaven for faithfulness of service.

We believe that angels were originally created holy for the worship and service to God and to act as ministering spirits to the heirs of salvation, but now exist as ‘un-fallen’ and ‘fallen’; including Satan.

We believe that Satan is the author of sin and the cause of the fall of mankind; furthermore, blinding the minds of the unsaved, holding them in darkness, and waging war against the saints.  Being the open and declared enemy of God and man, Satan shall be eternally punished in the Lake of Fire.

God has revealed different dispensations, or stewardships, with corresponding rules of life; the present dispensation is the Church Age.

The rapture of the Church, which is the blessed and imminent hope of the Church, is to be followed in order by: the Judgment Seat of Christ, the seven-year tribulation; the Second Coming of Christ and the establishment of the millennial reign of Christ on earth; the Great White Throne Judgment; the eternal state of punishment for the unsaved and the eternal state of blessing for the saved; and the New Heaven and New Earth.
